“Quick ID Nomination”
The Arizona IBA
Program is conducting an inventory of bird habitats that may qualify as
Important Bird Areas under National Audubon Society’s IBA Program. Nomination of an Arizona Important Bird Area
is open to everyone!
This is an abbreviated
nomination form to pre-identify sites meriting further review as Arizona
Important Bird Areas. Sites with a
substantial record of bird data through formal surveys, studies, or detailed
field notes should be nominated under the formal IBA Nomination form, to be
evaluated for approval as an identified Arizona IBA. Evaluation and approval is by a Scientific Review Committee of
the AZ IBA Program. The recognition of
IBA status through Audubon’s IBA Program can help a site through greater
awareness by land managers and decision makers, increased grant funding
opportunities, initiation of citizen-science or professional bird studies, or
site conservation projects.
Participation in site projects is coordinated through AZ IBA Program
office with local Audubon chapters, the Audubon Arizona State Office, or with
other concerned groups.
It is recommended that
you contact the IBA coordinator before completing this form. The coordinator can inform you if the site
has already been nominated. For more
information and to return this survey, contact: Arizona IBA Coordinator, Scott Wilbor, TAS, 300 E. University
Blvd. #120, Tucson, AZ, 85705; ph. (520) 628-1730. Check the Arizona’s IBA web
page at www.tucsonaudubon.org/azibaprogram
for updated information.
Thank you for participating!

programs in which a significant component of the program content focuses on
avian ecology, bird identification, biodiversity, or the value of native
habitat for birds. Sites may be
natural, urban, suburban, or rural, but should retain or promote significant
