Tucson Audubon promotes the harvest of rainwater. Harvesting rainwater adds to the sustainability of human communities in the desert, helps lessen dependence on groundwater and the habitat that depends on it, and promotes sustainable desert landscaping, minimizing use of potable water on the landscape. Tucson Audubon incorporates rainwater harvesting in its habitat restoration projects. Ann Phillips, former Manager of Restoration Projects, coauthored a guide to rainwater harvesting that has been adopted by the Tucson City Council as guidance for city projects.
