control weeds and pick up trash at the Esperanza Ranch conservation
easement north of Tubac. Tucson Audubon is conserving and restoring
habitat on this 300-acre conservation easement along the Santa Cruz
River. To sign up contact Kendall Kroesen at 206-9900, 971-2385 cell, or

TogetherGreen Sabino Canyon giant reed
removal volunteer day!
Sunday November 9, 8
a.m. - noon
Volunteers are needed as Tucson Audubon partners with Friends of Sabino
Canyon and many other groups to help cut, bundle and dig out the
invasive plant giant reed (Arundo donax) from Sabino Canyon
Recreation Area. Giant reed is an invasive plant from Eurasia which
forms dense thickets which choke riversides and stream channels, crowd
out native plants, and alter wildlife habitat. Meet at the Sabino Canyon
Visitor Center at 8 a.m. and work until noon. Tools will be provided,
but wear sturdy shoes, hat, long-sleeve shirt and long pants. For more
information see www.sahra.arizona.edu/education2/arundo/
and to sign up contact Mark Hengesbaugh at tucson.arundo@gmail.com
or call Kendall Kroesen at (520) 971-2385. This project is supported by
Together Green, an Audubon program with funding from Toyota.

Lecture Series Set-up Crew: Come join the excitement of our Lecture Series: Living with Nature. Your obligation would be to attend the event, meet with the program chair, and assist in making it a successful event — second Monday of the month at 6:30p.m. in Tucson, or third Saturday of the month at 9:30a.m. in Green Valley.
Letter Stuffing Crew: We’d like to assemble three to five volunteers to gather every other week on Thursday mornings to assist with sending out renewal notices, thank-you letters, membership welcome letters, etc. Come enjoy coffee, tea, cookies, and lively conversation while getting the job done.
Special Events & Tabling Opportunities: We are looking for a cadre of talented people willing to donate their time to specific special events including but not limited to staffing membership tables at area special events. All materials are provided, and this is an easy and extremely important way to help Tucson Audubon get the word out about our organization while enjoying a variety of outings around southeast Arizona!

Tucson Audubon Birding Field Trip Leaders
Interested
in leading a birding field trip for Tucson Audubon? Call
Darlene Smyth,
297-2315, and find out what it takes.
Some birders are worried that they cannot identify the birds well enough
to lead a field trip. Being a willing, enthusiastic volunteer who gives
clear directions is more important that knowing all the birds. We can
help prepare. Please contact Darlene for all the details.
