Education at the Mason Audubon Center

Inspiring People to Learn about, Value, and Protect Nature.

Serving as an outdoor classroom, the Mason Audubon Center provides myriad educational opportunities for youth as well as adults.  A .6 of a mile loop trail winds through the saguaro and ironwood forest, while the classroom and adjoining shade ramadas provide presentation and lecture space.  More than a dozen hands-on activity kits on a variety of subjects from beginning bird watching to arthropods to botany allow for fun, interactive lessons geared for school children.

We offer many free, educational programs taught by our corps of volunteer naturalists. Our Desert Life Series Public Tours take place on the first Saturday of every month and feature a trail walk and lesson on a seasonal theme related to the Sonoran Desert. Periodically, we also host workshops, such as our Living with the Desert series, in which participants receive practical advice in such subjects as attracting birds and other wildlife to their yards. We also tailor programs for specific groups.  To learn more about scheduling a program (timing, fees, etc.) with us, please contact Tucson Audubon's Education Program Manager at carriedean@qwest.net
