Louis Benson Memorial Fund for the Mason Center
For the last decade, Louis (loubensonconstruction.com) was the architect, builder, and Grounds Co-chair for the Mason Center. He was instrumental in educating the community in sustainable building techniques. Louis was instrumental in the production of the annual Ironwood Festival/Jam and was this year's Guest of Honor. On Saturday, June, 13, Louis passed away in the company of friends and family. A memorial celebration will be held for Louis at the Mason Center on Saturday, June 27 beginning at 6pm.

Description
Tucson Audubon's Mason Center is a place
where youth, families, educators and others can appreciate the beauty of our native desert
and participate in a great variety of natural history learning experiences. Managed by the
Tucson Audubon Society, it is located on 20 acres of mostly undisturbed saguaro-ironwood
desert donated by its former owner, Mrs. Orpha Mason, in an area of Tucsons
northwest side that is rapidly growing and in great need of outdoor education opportunities. As
a protected area adjacent to additional natural desert in Arthur Pack Park, it provides
habitat for the preservation and study of many desert plants and animals.
