Mason Center Research

Research plays a critical role in the Mason Center mission.  Throughout the year, volunteers and staff engage in a variety of research initiatives, including:

1)      Avian, mammal, and roadkill surveys;

2)      Tucson Bird Counts and Christmas Bird Counts, and;

3)      GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations Benefiting the Environment) atmospheric and soil measurements.

 Not only does data from the surveys, counts, and measurements help us monitor changes in and around the Mason Center, but the collection of data itself provides an opportunity for youth and adults to learn scientific techniques through real-world applications.

 If you’d like to learn more about these initiatives or would like to help, contact Lia Sansom.
