Why I Love My Leaf!

When I bought my Nissan Leaf, I wanted a car that was more eco-friendly than the giant gas hogs I saw advertised, and if possible, was cheaper to run. I saw an ad for the Leaf, and immediately joined the waiting list. I figured it would be like driving a glorified golf cart, but that was ok. I wanted to help create a market for alternative fuel cars and was prepared to pay that cost. WAS I WRONG!

My Leaf is comfortable, peppy, and fun to drive. It zips along the highway and scoots into parking spots without effort. My 6"3" son is comfortable in the back seat, and it can hold an amazing amount of stuff in its trunk. Best of all, it's really, really quiet and a really, really normal car to drive. I didn't have to give up much of anything after all.

It can go about 100 miles between charges. How often do you actually do more than that in a day? My electric bill did go up of course, but by substantially less than I'd paid for gasoline each month. (There are no oil changes or tune-ups to pay for either.) I plug it in overnight every two or three days in my garage, but there are 220 volt stations around town where I can plug it in if I should ever go farther than I planned. In fact, I can even plug it in to any 110 outlet- just like a toaster! I love my Leaf. I know if you're lucky enough to win Tucson Audubon's Leaf, you'll fall in love too!
