Desert Dwellers Center News

New Tucson Audubon Education Program for Tucson Residents!
Tucson Audubon Society, as the fiscal sponsor for Desert Dwellers Center (DDC), proudly received a grant of $2,500 on October 26, 2010 from Tucson Association of Realtors for DDC's first education program, DDC On The Go!. This introductory mobile education program will teach 200 central Tucson residents how to improve their desert homes and gardens to minimize energy use and maximize water conservation.

Desert Dwellers Center is a future network of neighborhood locations where the abundance of local wisdom will be shared to improve Tucson residents' overall responsible use and enjoyment of their desert properties. Through DDC's programs, residents can learn how to retrofit their homes, gardens and neighborhoods through wise practices such as harvesting water, capturing solar power and creating wildlife habitat. Desert-wise educators will inform residents about ancient and state-of-the-art sustainable technologies for desert living.
