Leica_ultravid_front

Have you ever seen pure optical perfection? Over 100 years of craftsmanship culminates in the impressive performance of the Leica Ultravid HD binocular. State-of-the-art design incorporates fluoride glass with anti-reflective coatings to enhance color resolution and increase light transmission. The optimized Leica focus knob functions smoothly regardless of temperature extremes. The AquaDuraTM lens coating forces rain to roll off the lens surfaces, makes it easier to remove dirt and smudges, and provides better protection against scratching. The Ultravid HD is covered by the Leica limited lifetime warranty, plus a three-year Passport Protection Plan.

Binoculars for birding

Here’s a quick lesson on reading the numbers on your binoculars:
The first number refers to the magnification, or power, of your lenses. Most birders use an 8x or 10x power binocular. Some like the extra magnification that a 10x binocular gives, but a higher magnification also magnifies shake and narrows field of view.

The second number refers to the brightness of your lenses. A higher number gives a brighter, more detailed image and is better in lower light conditions.  Most birders use between 32 and 42 mm. This provides a good compromise between weight and clarity without sacrificing field of view.

It’s always a good idea to try a few pairs out to see what fits you best.
